Joseph Stroud reads in the Seventh Annual
Morton Marcus Poetry Reading. Gary Young will host.
The winner of the 2016 Morton Marcus Poetry Contest will give a short reading, including the winning poem.
Joseph Stroud is the author of five books of poetry: In the Sleep of Rivers, Signatures, Below Cold Mountain, Country of Light, and
the most recent, Of This World, New & Selected Poems, which was selected by the San Francisco Poetry Center as the outstanding book by an American poet for the year 2010.
It was also short-listed for the PEN Literary Award USA and the Commonwealth California Book of the Year. His work has earned a Pushcart Prize, has been featured on
American Public Medias The Writers Almanac, and he has appeared as a guest poet on A Prairie Home Companion.
His awards include the Witter Bynner Fellowship in Poetry from the Library of Congress, the Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters,
and the prestigious Lannan Lifetime Achievement Award.
